Croagh Patrick is situated about five miles from the pretty town of Westport,
Co. Mayo, on the shore of Clew Bay, where it rises gracefully to a height
of 2,510 feet above sea-level. Most of the pilgrims come to Westport,

MURRISK ABBEY
In 1457 the Augustinians, Father O’Malley was granted permission to
build a church and friary in Murrisk. The abbey is now in ruins, though
a fine remaining feature is a five-light window on the east wall of the
church and the embattled parapet, which crowns the south wall.
